Each week we’re going to feature a new coin on the website! This week it’s a beautiful 1922 $20 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle!
The Saint-Gaudens double eagle was produced from 1907 to 1933, and was designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens (hence the name). The beautiful obverse design of the coin features Lady Liberty holding an olive branch, backed by the rays of the sun. The reverse side of the coin features an eagle in flight, also backed by the rays of the sun.
This particular coin was struck in 1922, a year in which they minted 1,375,500 at the Philadelphia mint. It was graded and certified by PCGS at MS64, and has a beautiful luster to it!
